We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Shawn Ferguson as a new member of the Foundation’s Council. Shawn brings with him extraordinary experience in the field of international government relations within the non-profit sector. He currently serves as the Chief Global Government Relations Officer for Special Olympics, where he coordinates relationships with governments worldwide. Under his leadership, the department achieved a historic increase in federal funding—exceeding $55 million annually—to support its initiatives.
Shawn’s professional journey is a testament to dedication and leadership:
- Special Olympics: Formerly Chief of Staff to Chairman Timothy Shriver, he has been a cornerstone of the organization’s global growth.
- Institutional Experience: He served for over a decade in the U.S. Senate as Senior Advisor to Senator Kent Conrad, and subsequently as Legislative Director in the House of Representatives for Congressman Brian Baird.
- Social Impact: Promoted landmark legislation to support veterans and agricultural research programs (USDA).
- Civic Involvement: A member of the Sons of the American Legion and a former Hospice volunteer, Shawn has always combined his professional career with a strong commitment to volunteering and supporting local communities.
